How this works: water added is computed directly from TTB Gauging Manual Table 4 (gallons per pound at each percent of proof, 60°F) — proof gallons are conserved when spirits are cut with water, so the core weight figure is exact to Table 4 itself, not an approximation. Gallon and liter figures additionally apply your batch temperature via CRC Handbook density-ratio data. For official TTB tax gauging, verify against the Distilled Spirits Gauging Manual.
