Mayor Pingree Rye
Orange Label
Michigan Rye Whiskey
A Classic American Rye.
Named after a legendary Detroit mayor, our Orange Label Rye Whiskey is made from high-rye mash bills of approximately 95% rye and 5% barley and aged a minimum of six years in 53-gallon barrels. The result is earthy, nutty, and pleasantly viscous, with a subtle caramel-coated finish. We strive for perfection in every step of the process to create one of the most exemplary rye whiskeys in America.
Age and strength vary by batch.
How it’s Made
Like our Red Label Bourbon, Mayor Pingree Orange Label Rye Whiskey is methodically distilled to allow the nature-forward and caramelized flavors to reach their full potential. The extended distillation process facilitates the fermentation of esters that ultimately deliver the signature fruit notes and honeyed mouthfeel. Non-chill filtered.
Tasting Notes
Mayor Pingree Rye is an archetypal example of rye flavors and aromas, delivered via a tremendously smooth and mild-bodied six-year-old rye. The nature-forward nose – wild honey, rhubarb, and fresh hayloft – makes way for traditional notes of nutty caramel, dusty oak, and the spice finish that marks a quintessential rye whiskey at this stage of its aging journey. A friendly and apprising pour, excellent with classic rye cocktails and dusty old books rescued from the parlor shelf.
“This is an exceptionally rye-forward spirit in the style of original American rye whiskeys. Accessible, tantalizing, and perfect in classic cocktails.”
